The David Gilmour tour didn't stop in New England, but Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris will hit Boston this summer in support of their album, "All the Road Running," due to hit stores April 25.
Knopfler is an underrated guitar master who should be canonized with the likes of Clapton, Beck and the horribly overrated Page (it feels trite to use the last-name-only designation in his case). Harris has quietly cast her shadow over much of the last century's important music, beginning with her work with Gram Parsons, and continuing with the amazing Hot Band, the lineup of which reads like a who's who of genre-bending country music.
It's fitting that their new CD took over 7 years to come together. The languid, soothing music both of them make is timeless.
